Dec 26th 2012DiyanaFood glorious food! & Life
I had a conversation with my bosses the other day and one of them was complaining about how bad the food they serve at Wadihana Steakhouse in Bangi. For RM40, they can’t even serve homemade mashed potatoes, the one that is simply milk, butter and potatoes? But instead they used instant powdery ones you get in KFC. Hampeh!
People are watching the Food Channel these days, my boss said. And you restaurateurs can no longer serve customers so low an F&B standard without having them complain and well…. Not come back. Or worse, they could blog about it and others would read.
I think he is right, the food channels have influenced us quite a lot don’t they? I cannot remember when I started watching the food channels on Astro. But I remember even before watching those shows I have always wanted a good kitchen, I serve my food neatly although not artistically beautiful on a nice serving dish that is made of glass or porcelain but hardly plastic. Often my friends call me Makcik for my liking towards good cutleries and dinnerware but I call my ADA STANDARD! Ko ada? It is not that I insist of eating on Royal Dalton day and night but please I am not a 2 year old with tendencies to break my plates and bowls, so please la pengusaha restoran sekalian, treat your customers like adults and give them real glass plate to eat on.
That’s why I cannot take it when restaurants serve food on plastic dishes. Kalau mamak atau warung bawah pokok tepi jalan takpe lah but a proper restaurant? Haishhh..
So somehow the food channel has help in moving the quality of F&B service in Malaysia. Now that customers have higher awareness and taste, terpaksalah all these restaurateur be more serious and put extra efforts in keeping up with the standards. Don’t be like most restaurants in Bangi (hari ni hari mengeji restoran Bangi ke apa ni?) I think they spend fortunes for fish ponds and wooden huts for this so-called eco dining concept but the food sucks and they waiter are Jawa mana tah cakap pun tak paham. Membazir duit je buat kolam ikan Wak, baik masak sedap-sedap.
Actually impact food channel ni memang baik untuk F&B industry but in my own household pun impacted jugak. Laki aku yang makan main telan je apa pun bagi kat dia sekarang dah pandai… “Asam pedas Diyana ni tak mesra lah! Masak asing-asing kan?”
Wahhhh…. Dah pandai menggunakan perkataan mesra untuk ikan? Ha… ambik ko Diyana! Padan muka aku!

Ni lah asam pedas ikan tenggiri yang Azman cakap tak mesra tu. Sedih i! Nanti I ajar ikan tu bagi salam 1Malaysia supaya lebis mesra masa makan.

Ni pulak roti jala and kari ayam kentang aku buat hari Ahad haritu kot. BTW, masa tu aku malas cari mangkuk pastu lepas letak kat meja baru perasan mangkuk dengan piring tu satu berbunga satu kosong. Aku ni Mak Enon cerewet tak tentu hala, sangat terganggu dengan pinggan tak match gitu haishh… Anyway baru 2-3 kali buat roti jala tapi dah tahu betapa tertipunya aku makan roti jala selama ni. Aku ingatkan roti jala memang rasa tawar kosong-kosong gitu buat actually penjual tu yang kedekut taik idung masin. All they could do is add some butter or ghee, garam sikit gula sikit pun dah OK, it will improve the taste soo much better. I experimented roti jala with ghee dan rasanya sangatla sedap. You guys should try! Tapi kalau laki uols kata ghee dengan roti jala tak mesra jangan salahkan I ok! haha! Have a nice day guys!

Dec 25th 2012DiyanaI know what you did last weekend & Rafa
Hi! It is 25th Dec and we are on the Xmas break and enjoying it to the max mengalahkan orang yang sambut Xmas. I have been on leave since Saturday and will only be back to work on 2nd Jan! Bliss!
On Sunday we took the kids to our regular pool at POGH. Hey it is Rafa’s first time swimming! He uses Abang Miki’s old floaties, a swim diaper and Abang’s Miki old swimming shorts. Kesiannye laa semua second hand LOL!
Miki’s first time swimming was when he was 4 months old. We wanted to take Rafa to the pool when he was 4mo too but the weather doesn’t permit. Finally on Sunday it isn’t raining and although it is not sunny either but jadilahhh…
The water is chilly and wind is blowing but somehow we know Rafa would not mind! This baby loves water and his bath time so much since forever! Check out his expression the moment we float him on the water!

Happynyeee sampai terjelir-jelir! LOL
He doesn’t complain of the cold water, in fact Miki was so impressed when he paddles his tiny chubby feet just like a little swimmer. And all they way he is smiling and grinning his cheeky toothless grins.

Happy!

Rafa paddles kanan -kiri! Pandai and berani!

Mohammad, Nuh and Luth! Si abang adores his Adik to bits!

Rafa listening to Miki yang tengah kelentong apa tah dengan penuh kusyuk…

Happy lagi!

My kids!
This is almost dejavu to me. Just a few years ago we were here taking Miki for his first swim and now we are here again for his brother’s first time. Miki was rather scared and holding on to Daddy’s face while in the water. But Rafa is totally different. Rafa spend first 10 minutes paddling around and the last 5 licking the water. That’s when we pull him out if the pool. He already got water in his nose sampai merah-merah… water in his eyes and his mouth but he doesnt mind at all… Rafa oh Rafa…
But Miki at 5 years is brave enough to swim without his floaties in the grown up pool but of course we are not letting him lah! Below is Miki swooshing down the water slide all alone all by himself, he was so gayat of this thing couple of years ago…

He splashes down from the slide into the grown-up pool and starts swimming away. Pandai anak Mummy… dah besar sangat dah… It was such a joy bringing up Miki until he is what he is today. And with Rafa on board it just keeps getting better. We got a feeling that Rafa is more “hero” than his big brother.
At 5 months sometimes he cries for a bath just like we would cry for milk. He knows where the bathrooom is and would stop crying just as we open the door. Once we took a step into the bathroom he will start giggling happily. When we are removing his clothes, Rafa got the hint that he will be taking his bath already, if we wipe our wet hand on his face it just confirms his anticipation and he would grin tergedik-gedik happy giler nak mandi nih! Kelakar la Rafa!
At 5 months also he loves the out door and gets bored of the house. He would lifts both hands suruh dukung to anybody standing especially in front of the door. No holding him while sitting on the couch too! Too boring and Rafa would cry… Mengada kan? sabar jelah!
Mummy and Daddy and Abang Miki look forward to bringing you to our outdoor activities, Adik Rafa. You be good and stay healthy and strong ok! We love you!!
