Siri Bercakap Dengan Miki – The Wishing Well

A few weeks ago we went to Sunway Pyramid, one of the malls closest to where we live. We had lunch and then bought some stuff before we reached the court adorned with elaborate and beautiful Christmas decorations.

There were pretty white wooden swings, many tall and colourful Christmas trees and in the middle of a court, there was a wishing well. When Miki saw what it was, he was so excited thinking it was a real well.

“Miki nak coin! Miki nak coin please!” He exclaimed, tugging at my arm impatiently.

I wanted to sit him down and explain to him that there is no such thing as a “wishing well”! In this world, my son, if there is anything at all that you desire, what you need to do is work! Work towards achieving it! Work towards your goal. You can wish and pray but to Allah, not wishing wells. You know son, there are a lot of people out there, who dream of making it big. Drive big cars, live in mansions, holiday in Paris, wear diamond rings but when it comes to work, they do it shabby… day in day out they will sit in front of their computer, not doing anything productive but scrutinizing every post in their Facebook timeline.  They see others living the lives they have always wanted and so they b*tch!  Oh how they b*tch.. Instead of work they b*tch, instead of getting inspired they b*tch. They think by b*tching instead of working, the diamond ring and Eiffel Tower will come tergolek-golek onto their lap. And to make them look all good and honest, they find a Hadith to support their opinion, opinion based on green eyed jealousy, opinion meant to bring others down. You will meet this type of people sooner or later in your life, my son,  but never be one of them. Channel your knowledge and creativity into useful things. And if you love to debate so much, go ahead and become a lawyer not a keyboard warrior.

But then i realized that Miki is just a little boy and he was looking at me with his eyes so bright… And so I gave him a 20 cents. He ran to the well, hold the coin close to his chest and then throw it into the well.

He came back to me running with pure happiness in his face. I asked him, “Miki wish apa tadi?”

He pulled me down so that he was whisper into my ears. “I made two wish!”

“Two wishes. What are they?”

“First I wish I get a candy and  I WISH MY HOUSE IS CLEAN! Yayyyy!!!” He said as ran off chasing after Rafa.

Terkesimalah aku di situ tak tahu nak kata apa. Rasa nak terjun dalam wishing well pun tak guna dalamnya sekaki saja. Wahai anak teruk sangatkah rumah kita?  Kain banyak tak berlipat tu tandanya ko banyak baju nak dipakai. Toys banyak bergelimpangan tu menguji ketahanan tapak kaki memijak Lego sampai bersepai….

To make his wishes  come true, we bought him some hand made candy from Sticky and later we went back home where Miki was asked to clean up his own mess just as he wished for. LOL!
