GIANT KIDS RUN 2014 and why I want my kids to join marathons

Waaaaa…. lamanya tak update blog! Aku sibuk sangat! Last weekend which was a 3-day Merdeka weekend, I had to work on an amazing event in KL. And tomorrow I will be flying to Sandakan for work as well. For 4 days! FOUR DAYS! My 3 boys  are like soooo abandoned! I am so sorry guys! I will buy another M&M dispenser and huge bag of M&M candy at the airport, OK. Candies for the younger two and the dispenser for Azman. (He is a kid at heart, don’t tell him I told you this)

Anyway, I have applied for a day-off on Monday 15th Sept, so that I can have a 4-days weekend. If my boss calls me from the office I will flush my phones down the toilet. I don’t care! We need to get out of town, seriously! It seems like ages since our last holiday to USA in May ( which I haven’t finished jotting down the log in this blog, I am so useless darn it!). And… Miki is joining his second children’s marathon on Malaysia Day – 16th September. Yay!

Below pictures are taken from his first attempt last year! He was just 5, what a cutey! Last year Giant Kids run was held in Kepong but this year in Shah Alam Stadium.

I am just gonna say that Giant puts up a great, really kids friendly event. And I just cannot help but compare it with how his previous kindergarten – Little Caliphs organized a sports day.

First of all, and the most basic common sense – Giant Kids Run gave a certificate and a medal that says Champion to all the kids who completed the 750meter run. Miki’s ex-school gave one trophy (gold/silver/bronze) to each kid for joining THREE games plus the marching in session. Not too mention that some Little Caliphs teachers that Miki had lacked brain mass, biased and cheatedin order to get their team to win the games. What kind of a teacher cheats? So bye bye Little Caliphs and this year Miki is super happy at Qdees.

I am very  confident Miki could win first to third place in last year marathon but we were late and the path at the park was small. The crowd was massive and by the time Miki and Azman could start to run, the ones in the middle have gone half way through. I believe Giant’s organizers realized this and that’s part of the reason they moved the venue to the much much bigger Shah Alam Stadium.

They had a lot of activities happening during the event last year like the inflatable playground above and clowns below. Rafa was just 1 year and 2 months last year so this time around I am sure he would be able to enjoy himself.

Didn’t we have a great time Rafa?

I really want  Miki to continue running in marathons, playing sports and do all the positive activities in his life. Azman and I are guilty for not having the time to take the kids swimming and snorkeling more often although Miki is really good at them.

It is a crazy world out there soon he will be meeting with all sorts of people, making all sorts of friends. Would he be able to distinguished good influential friends from bad, smoking weed, skipping school friends? Trust me, I worry about this everyday… so I hope by introducing Miki these sort of physical activities, he would be more appealed to join the sports club instead of succumb to bad kids’s persuasion to hang at the mall. I hope it would develop him into a good positive person that we all need to be and later let Rafa follow suit. Insya Allah… Can’t wait to see him run in a couple of weeks! Yay!
