As I wrote before we stayed at Strawberry Park Resort in Cameron Highlands. And the best thing to me that this hotel has got to offer is a service all of you must take next time you get up the in the Highlands. For your info, Strawberry Park provides Guided Tour service to all their guests!It is soooo freaking convenient!!

If you have driven to Cameron Highlands before you would know how tiring it could be! Once you arrive at Brinchang for example, you would need to drive around to the many-many parks, garden and farms pulak! The roads are very narrow and when it rains they can be quite slippery. Worst thing would happen if you visit during the school holidays which mean thousands of people flocking together to enjoy the lovely cool highland weather. Driving can be a nightmare at these times…

When we heard about this service Azman especially was so happy coz he didnt have to drive.Ehe! They have several routes or packages but we took the Countryside Tour. It took us to the Butterfly Farm, Boh Tea Factory, Cactus Valley etc etc. If you are traveling without children, you can try their Mossy Forest Walk or Hill Forest Walk. Sounds very interesting for nature lovers like us. Actually we could bring Miki to these Walks, coz Miki is a tough boy, but at that time my morning sickness is super duper bad, takut termuntah or terpengsan tengah jalan!!

In fact I dont know how I can pull a smile in these pictures.. It was feeling so horrible! Hehehe

Our tour started at 9 am and we rode with other guests in a van. The driver was very friendly and knowledgeable about Cameron Highlands. Here is Miki on Daddy’s lap in the van.

We shared the van with a Indian family from KL and a Dutch couple from Holland. They were all very nice and Miki made friends with the other kids.

That night we had dinner at Strawberry Court Thai Restaurant.  The restaurant is situated at Lower Ground Floor of Strawberry Park Resort.

The restaurant opens from 6pm and last order is taken at 10pm. We had steam boat and it was so yummy! At night in Cameron Highlands can be quite chilly so makan soup panas-panas is soooo good….

Actually Strawberry Park also has a fine dining restaurant called Tudor Grill which we will check out the next time we go there. I looked at the place and it look fineeee….

Thanks friends and readers for visiting this blog. FYI how I wish I have the time to write about sensational stuff, heartfelt stories and Miki’s development update but badan tak kuat, kesihatan tak mengizinkan (aiyoo baru pregnant belum demam denggi lagi… touch wood!)

Anyway I have some pics that I took with my phone over the weekend let me upload here lah! On Saturday Azman had to work I stayed homi with Miki and we did nothing but relaxing, watching TV and play games. If I wasn’t down with morning sickness, I am sure we had gone out shopping or at least get some exercise at the park. Instead I made some spaghetti with tomato and fresh basil, spread a matt under the palm trees in our garden and have our own lil picnic there.

The weather on Saturday was cool and the sun was merciful. Miki and I had such a lovely time having our simple lunch outside.

Bentang tikar plastik cabuk, took out a couple of scattered cusions, belum sempat nak hidangkan air segala tengok2 mulut Miki dah bukan main comot hahaha… Sedap ye Miki, of course la Mummy yang masak! :p Took this pic I think he looks so cute here. Although it was not a hot day but Miki went back inside to his Ipad after he finished his meal… alala… so Putera Lilin!

I on the other hand proceeded with my sunbathing. I got my paperback novel with me, my fluffy cusions and the soft blowing wind! Relax betul.. heaven! Love my high fence, takde sapa nampak I terbongkang atas rumput depan rumah nak pakai bikini pun boleh woo kalau sanggup! haha

As you all know Azman and I are self-proclaimed Urban Garderner. Now we have more herbs and vegetable plants in our yard than flowering plants. Really banyak sampai tak termakan. At one time we produce so much of that iron-and-minerals-packed red spinach and sawi until I found it funny when I saw other people were buying that from the supermarket. I felt like saying eh.. tak payah la beli, mai datang umah saya petik. *pengsan*

In the end we gave some to family and friends and our pet rabbits pun bukan main mewah makan sayur bayam tiap-tiap hari. Now that my morning sickness is slowing me down a lot, I hardly cook anything and I have like 3 or 4 kuntum bunga kantan yang sampai dah kembang sebab tak petik!!! Not to mention cili padi, serai, basil melambak-lambak…

My cili padi yang sampai buruk atas pokok dan jatuh berguguran ke bumi. Below is Azman’s latest plants. Memang feeling-feeling Cameron Highlands la! This is cabbage aka kobis. I myself has never seen it grown in low land,in my own garden is the first time. So far it is growing beautifully, hope it will produce the cabbage head soon..
Memang susah jaga food plants when you are not using pesticide but that’s the challenge and looking at your plants growing gloriously like this is very satisfying like buying handbag. hahaha

On Sunday, I felt a bit better but still didn’t feel like going out takut making a scene by termuntah di khalayak ramai! So I decided to cook proper lunch for the family, I love authentic Malay cooking aka makanan kampung-kampung. So picked some herbs from the edible garden, serai, daun kunyit, bunga kantan, cili padi and also daun kesum.

The ginger torch and daun kesum was thrown into a pot of asam pedas ikan siakap – my husband likes this very much. I think my bro in law Abi mesti horror tengok muka ikan tu hahaha

I also made what tasted best in my preggie momma palate – masak lemak cili api!  That day I cooked masak lemak cili api ayam with tomatoes yang sangatlah marvelous lemak berkrim but I feel so guilty about taking that much santan. Next time I will remember not to use so much. FYI I have stopped cooking red meat in my kitchen except when we host bbq parties. I also limit the intake of cheese for myself and Azman except Miki he can take as much cheese as he wants. Red meat, cheese, santan adalah sangat tidak menyihatkan ye Puan-puan - pesanan daripada penaja.  Remember that asam pedas is better than masak lomak dan bolognese is better than creamy carbonara. Sekali -sekala boleh la eh…

Azman and Miki both suka and makan banyak betul, I feel so happy and semangat nak melawan pening so that I can cook regularly again. I really pray so that morning sickness will leave me soon. So that I can function normally again. LOL. Insyal Allah…

Anyway, we stayed at room 627 and once I opened the door, my eyes was fixed at the pretty balcony. Immediately I said to myself that I love it here! Hahaha… FYI my work at the office is extremely hectic and it has been a long time since I got a break. Relaxing in cool, pretty gardens, looking out at beautiful scenery while putting my feet up sipping hot tea was what I really needed and thank goodness to Strawberry Park Resort, Cameron Highlands…

The design of the room was very much to my liking because it was both modern and rustic at the same time.  You can see matching damask heavy drapes and armchairs plus wallpaper and the wooden flooring is very comfortable because it can get very chilly especially at night in Cameron.

The beds was very soft and comfy. Miki jumped up and down like little monkey here… haishhh

The bathroom was larger than life! I wish it was not so cool in Cameron so that I can take long baths but I am not a fan of  SEJUK so mandi kerbau only lah! hahahaha

Check out those black and white tiles! That’s so old school! Where did they get these tiles? I feel like remodelling my master bathroom  now! hahaha

After lepakking for awhile in that cosy room went out to check the playground for Miki to play. I think this hotel is definitely suitable for families with young kids because of the spacious rooms and this huge wooden play area.

That night, we were treated with scrumptious BBQ dinner at Jim Thompson Terrace. The BBQ buffet spread was extensive and mouth watering. They roasted  chicken, lamb, beef and even duck out on the balcony. Tehy also have bbq seafood, sate and spicy dory which was really delicious and pedas!

While I walloped everything, enjoyed his buttered corn on cob and all the fresh sauteed vegetables. If he hadn’t indulged on the pasta, confirmed my son is a vegan! haha

Yums.. They have the fresh pasta section, where you can choose your favorite toppings and sauce.. from bolognese, carbonara etc… and they have these fresh arrays of seafood like big prawns, clams and calamari.

The Jim Thompson Terrace is an all-day dining outlet serving a wide variety of popular local and western cuisine. It is situated at the Lobby floor and open from 7.00am until 10.30pm (last order). From my experience, the staff are very friendly and helpful and most importantly the place is kids friendly. I was greeted and served by Encik Zamri, the F&B Manager himself.

Thank you so much Strawberry Park for the hospitility. But oops.. I have more stories to write and pretty pictures to publish! Later~~~

So much I want to write about the holiday but first! The most important part of any vacations at all.. is definitely – MAKAN-MAKAN!

Hehe, after we checked in at the Strawberry Park, instead of going to check out our room, I insist to check on their famous pies. In the afternoons, freshly baked pies are served at Jim Thompson Terrace and if the weather permits we can enjoy them  at the Garden Terrace.

They have many to choose from like Cornish Pie, Leek and Potato,  Traditional Chicken Pie, Chicken Cordon Blue etc. We ended up ordering Steak and Mushroom (RM18.00) and Strawberry Pie (RM18.00).

Here is my sweet strawberry pie! Pretty and delicious! Once you break the puff pastry, the fresh strawberry filling came oozing out.. The pie is also served with french fries and strawberry and cream. My favorite way of eating masam Cameron berries. hehe

Azman ordered Steak and Mushroom Pie, and I am telling it’s so good! They serve it with salad, french fries and gravy to go with the pie. The beef is tender and the mushroom so succulent. I love it!

 Here are some photos of us at the Garden Terrace. I simply love outdoor dining and enjoying our afternoon tea with hot freshly baked pie at the garden is such a bliss. Strawberry Park Resort has lovely garden in its compound with exotic highland flowers that I simply love. But Miki got really freaked out with this plant. It’s a common garden plant that we can see in the low land as well, but here in the cool weather, the flowers grow so big! haha

Family and friends in the Peninsular is probably beraya sakan right now but I am working la pulak! Darn.. But I don’t feel that bad coz I have hosted some friends over last weekend. Since we’re not having an open house this year, the food served was not so much and the people who came also not so many lah! Just 10 families only.. Erkk tak banyak ke 10 families?

On second day of raya recently, my aunt, Cik Pura served her special Mee Kari recipe to us at her house in Taiping. It was Azman’s first time trying it and he loves it so much that I gotta learn how to cook that stuff. FYI I am not a noodle person, I am hardcore nasik lover but takpelah demi suami terchenta…

 The Mi Kari is rather different than most of you probably have eaten, this one is curry powder and tomato based, laced with bunga kantan (ginger shoot) and daun kesum ( leaf of  erkkk.. ok I dunno what Mat Salleh calls daun kesum LOL). I put a whole lot of chicken, kerang, fish cakes and fish balls in the soup and served it with blanched yellow noodles, blanched sawi, taugeh, fresh tomatoes, lime and more fish balls and cakes.

On top of the noodles, I also made my favourite chicken rendang served with ready made lemang, rojak buah, cut watermelons.

Above is Kak Iena, she is mad about lemang and rendang. All these food was served at 5pm but everybody was busy watching TV, playing with the kids etc until Kak Iena started to devour the lemang sampai ditinggalkannya laki dia kat luar! LOL lawak giler…

After that baru the rest sibuk nak  makan. Perhatikan gaya Nize mengambil mee kuning! bergaya bukan?

At far back, in the black tudung is my beloved friend Ejam Aris. She is so nice and helped me wash dishes, sort out cutleries etc etc tapi pompuan ni kalau dia kerja maid memang dia dah kena seterika di merata-rata bahagian badan termasuk organ dalaman la aku rasa.Sebab dia sedikit potpetpotpet! But I lap her… muah muah Ejam Aris and Dhea sekali!

Ada sorang mamat ni pulak orang datang beraya umah dia sibuk pakai baju gambar katun penyu. Laki sapa tatau? Dasyat betul bini dia tak gosokkan baju ekk?

Despite the lack of pics, I was happy that day because my too-big-for-the-three-of-us house was bustling with laughter and full of people! Coincidently these 4 young girls who live in our neighbourhood came to “beraya”. I invited them in sonce I already have food and drinks to serve and they stayed from 5 to Maghrib time!  

Miki was super happy to get to play with them, he showed them our new baby rabbits and they were playing with the furry cuties sampai kena kencing rabbit LOL! I was so busy in the kitchen/dining area, I almost forgot about these girls until the 4 of them, Miki and Irfan (Atie’s son ) was running in and out of the house, playing kejar-kejar. So meriah and Kak Iena asked who are their parents, then only I realized, “Eh… Entahla Kak Iena, aku pun taktau anak sapa tah main lari-lari dalam rumah ni!” Haha… Don’t worry dik, no kidnappers or serial killers in this house cuma ada bujang available je nama N***.. Opps,, hehehe

Eii…tak baiknya korang para pembaca ni… Kenapa korang suka cerita-cerita keji je ni… Berdosa uols! (macam la yang menulis tu tak dosa kan?) muahahaa..

Saya perhatikan semakin saya “meningkat dewasa”, penulisan saya pun jadi makin berhemah. Tapi apabila makin berhemah entah mengapa semakin banyak cerita makan-makan pula. Saya sedikit buntu disini. Adakah semakin saya insaf saya semakin kuat makan? Atau adakah saya hanya bersopan semasa makan?  Semasa tak makan masih suka mencerca kah? Ohhh tidak…

Baru-baru ini, kami telah pergi berbuka puasa di Bukit Jalil Golf &Country Resort. Kami telah pergi berlima, saya, Azman, Miki dan dua orang Uncle kesayangan Miki iaitu Uncle Nize and Uncle Bauk.

Jikalau Miki dikenali sebagai pemakan sayur, Uncle Nize dikenali sebagai pemakan slow. Beliau mengambil masa kira-kira 2 kali ganda dari average masa makan manusia biasa. Itu baru mengunyah, belum telan lagi. Uncle Bauk pula? Seiring sejalan dengan namanya Bauk, haruslah beliau ialah pemakan Banyak.

Harga Ramadhan Buffet di Kelab ini ialah RM48.oo bagi dewasa. Bagi budak kici-kici seperti Miki percuma sahaja. Pada hari tersebut sayalah yang telah menelefon untuk membuat pesanan. Saya berasa sungguh sentaps kerana yang menjawap panggilan adalah sejenis makhluk yang tak dapat dipastikan.  Saya rasa mungkin beliau bangsa Myanmar ataupun Tibet. Langsung saya tak paham apa yang dia kata. Entahla boleh jadi dia orang Kelantan juga. Sebab usahkan Tibet, slang Kelantan pun saya masih belum master.

Walaupun saya sungguh stress membuat tempahan meja dengan si Tibet itu, tapi saya tetap merasakan beliau adalah seorang genius. Ini adalah kerana, beliau cukup pandai menilai kemerduan suara saya, dan pandai sungguh beliau meneka dengan tepat bahawa usia saya adalah 19 tahun! Bijak! Bijak sekali… Dengan itu beliau telah menempah meja atas nama CIK DIANA.

Walaupun kambeng tersebut dibakar secara tergolek dan terkangkang, ia tetap makanan kegemaran saya. Nyom nyom sungguh tinggi cita-rasa, tinggi juga tahap kolesterolnya!

Dasyat tak BM gua? Dasyat takk? Dasyatt takkkkk???

Bercakap mengenai belacan, saya ingin berkongsi perasaan jauh di lubuk hati. Mengenai nasi tomato. Ya, nasi tomato juga mempunyai tempat di hati saya. Kerana sifat penyayang saya yang bercampur gaul dengan sifat bitchy yang sangat sukar dibendung lagi.

Kisahnya begini, semenjak saya semakin menginjak usia remaja ini, saya telah rajin sedikit untuk memasak. Antara resepi-resepi baru yang saya cuba ialah nasi tomato. Saya telah membuat preparatory work terhadap resepi yang diguna pakai, melakukan back ground check terhadap penulis resepi itu dan lain-lain lagi. Oh, saya sungguh gigih sekali!

Dan berkat kegigihan itu saya telah dapat menyimpulkan bahawa peniaga-peniaga nasi tomato diluar sana adalah sangat KEDEKUT TAIK IDONG MASIN!! APSAL SUSAH SANGAT KO NAK TARUK KULIT KAYU MANIS TU LEBIH SIKIT KASIK WANGI NASIK KO TU? NAK KAYA CEPAT EH? MACAM NI LAH ORANG MELAYU MENIAGAAAAAA.. HAMPEHH!

Jikalau saya tak belajar masak sendiri, pasti sampai ke tua kertu saya akan ingat nasi tomato adalah nasi putih beras tempatan yang berkaler pink-pink sedikit. Sabar jelah!

Walaupun saya penat berhempas-pulas (entah apa dihempas apa dipulas) di dapur. Saya sungguh kecewa dengan sikap anak saya. Tak kiralah saya masak nasi warna merah, oren, kuning atau biru sekalipun beliau tetap nak makan sayur saja. Entah apalah nasib saya, mungkin saya terlalu banyak menonton bola sepak Malaysia semasa mengandung dulu. Terlalu banyak tengok sayur sampai anak saya keluar asyik-asyik nak makan sayur.. haishhh

Walaubagaimanapun, budak Miki ini tetap buah hati saya. Sungguhpun beliau budak kecik yang ganas, suka menyepak perut saya semasa tidur hingga hampir terberak, dan sentiasa mengamuk jikalau Ben 10 tidak keudara di TV, Miki sebenarnya seorang budak yang manja.

Baru-baru ini kami sudah pergi merayau-raya ke serata KL untuk mencari kasut raya Miki. Penat betul berjalan, tak jumpa-jumpa kasut Miki asyik terbeli kasut saya saja.

Akhirnya kami telah membeli sepasang Converse high cut warna merah untuk budak itu. Jimat sikit kerana harganya lebih murah dari Ralph Lauren yang saya idamkan. Miki adalah sangat berbangga dengan kasutnya. Ini adalah kerana kasut ini kasut bertali beliau yang pertama.

Mungkin kasut bertali membuatkan beliau rasa lebih dewasa. Maka beliaupun terus memakainya di rumah sampai tergolek-golek..

Andainya saya rajin saya akan update lagi. Andainya takde update tu maksudnya saya malas laa tu.. Saya mengucapkan selamat berpuasa kepada semua untuk hari-hari yang terakhir ini.

At that time, very few people are shopping for food but all the stalls are ready with their tempting kuih-muih and mouth-watering nasi kerabu, sate, muratabak..you name it! But since I got to be home early, I have been cooking for iftar as well and that’s awesome too. Miki doesn’t really eat Bazaar Ramadhan food.. picky eater he is…

Talk about picky eating, we had not problem at all feeding Miki at the Buffet Ramadhan in Holliday Villa, Subang recently. In fact we really enjoyed ourselves with the super yummy food that they serve.

Siapa tak enjoy kalau they have 270 dishes to offer. Boleh? Punya lah banyak! In case you have have never been there, the Ramadan Buffet is held at Palm Terrace Coffeehouse. Most importantly, THE PRICE! It’s affordable here, you know!

This Ramadhan Buffet Dinner priced at RM77++ per adult and RM57++ per child only. Unlike other places they serves up to RM120 per pax, phew! Another cool thing is, if you come for the first three days of Ramadhan (oops dah terlepas!) and the last three days of Ramadhan (still got time for KL folks but aku dah balik kampung time ni!)  you will be able to enjoy 50% discount! Huuu banyak tu!

Cakes! Yummy! Actually I wanted to take more photos but I was too busy eating and chit-chatting with fellow bloggers and staff of Holiday Villa Subang. They also have pulut kuah durian, pulut kuning yang sedap! I love it..

Miki also enjoyed himself with freshly cooked pasta. Memang banyak Miki makan nowadays, satay, nasi himpit, beriani semua dia telan!

So whether we like it or not, food topics are still reflected in the blog. Just like now, I am writing about what we had last night. I made this salsa thingy that I served with pasta (because we need the carbs badly).

It’s packed with tomatoes, celery, beef, onions and some mushroom too. I used tomato puree as the base and I added lots of chunky chopped tomatoes to get the real taste. The main herb that in this dish is basil! My fave!

Above is one of my many organic basil plants in our garden. This one grows so nicely by the plastic fencing Azman uses to divide his sawi patch from the bayam patch. Glorious eh? When it rains especially you can smell the fragrant basil in the air… I love my garden.. hehehe..

Miki on the other hand, loves pasta and everything vegetables. Nowadays he has become a bit picky and prefers hard vegetables than  green leaves like sawi and kangkung. When he saw me serving this last night, he said

“Wow! So goody! My favourite lunch!”
“We are having dinner lah Miki, lunch tu tengah hari!” Mummy commented.
“Yay! It’s dinner time!” Miki jumped with joy! La… ko baru sedar ke hari dah nak malam? Haishhh

Inilah budak notti yang makan dalam pingan plastik tak berlapik else my table cloth will be smeared with the tomato sauce. Walaupun dah besar tapi makan masih comot lagi!!

So what are you guys having for buka puasa today? I am not cooking today because I got an invitation from Holiday Villa! Yay! Wait for my review…

In fact,  less sugary food is best consumed by all of us not just diabetes patient kan? Ayoo takkan dah sakit baru nak jaga diet kot? hehehe

Diabetic Date and Nuts Cookies Recipe (Resipe Biskut Raya – Biskut Kurma Berkacang)

1 cup Diabetic Orange Marmalade (kat Cold Storage ada jual)
1 tsp Baking Soda
1/2 cup Shortening
2 cup Flour
1 Egg
1 cup Chopped Dates
1/2 tsp Cinnamon (serbuk kulit kayu manis)
1 cup Nuts
1 tsp Vanilla

Preparation:
1) Mix all ingredients together well.
2) Drop by teaspoon on greased
sheets.
3) Bake 8-10 minutes in a 350oF preheated oven.

Hehehehe senang kan? I am so into these recipes that use cup as measurements instead of grams. Kalau pakai gram-gram ni boleh terkehel jari aku wooo… Maklumlah! Berbakat! ehehhehe
