A friend of ours, Normin (not his real name) came over last night. Azman and I tied him up to Miki’s high chair and start poking his ears with sate sticks. Don’t gimme that look! We did it for a very valid reason! Air Asia promotion not gonna last forever. He needs to tell us his wedding date ASAP because we WANT TO BUY TICKETS TO ATTEND HIS WEDDING!

Finally Normin gave up and shy-shy cat told us that THE ENGAGEMENT WILL BE ON CHRISTMAS!!! Yeaay!!

Bani (totally his real name), you crying already aaa?

Sigh… Normin oh Normin, our dear little Normin.. I nurtured him since the days he was unable to speak to any human being with chromosome X without hiding his face under his ketiak. Especially if those human beings are legible Aweks! ( With makcik-makcik he was fine). And now he is well errr.. errrr… still shy but he managed to steal the heart of the beautiful girl Momey (not her real name), daughter of a fierce high ranking Policeman with A Galak moustache.

And soon they are gonna get engaged in December! Weee!! And Bani still doesn’t have a girl friend weee!! And then they are gonna get married in August and Bani is still single weee!! And they will go to Gold Coast for honeymoon and Bani will be the last one standing weeeee!!!!! And then they will have kids and Bani will still be Bujang Lapok… weeeeee!!

Oh how nice to be able to kutuk Bani knowing he will take it as a man and not report to the CEO! Hehhehe.. Even if he does, I wouldn’t give a crap anyway..

Anyway, to celebrate the good news I made pizza for all of us and with the magic of Normin and Momey’s love it turned out to be a tortilla fold over. That’s the power of bakal pengantin, Bani when willyou have that power laa? I know it look so gross and soggy but its delicious yum yum yummm..

Recipe: My usual spicy bolognese sauce with extra minced beef, sliced sausages, chunky paprika cubes, chunky pineapple cubes, lots of cheese, lots of mushroom.. dunked on a tortilla, fold it over.. toss in the oven 180deg 10 minutes… Burp!

On 17th November 2008, Miki turned 10 months old. He celebrated his birthday by not taking a nap at all throughout the day. Not a wink, not a blink. The babysitter said all he wanted to do was play and play and play. She must be hinting for a raise in the monthly fee after all the torture that she had endured while taking care of the little naughty boy that never sits still; but I chose to rejoice the bliss of ignorance.

While I was making dinner today, Miki screamed Dehdeeeeyyy! Dehdeeyyy!! to Azman as he was leaving him all strapped-up in his high chair. I guess we got another word to affix in the Miki’s Big Book of Vocabulary. He had been calling Azman Dehdey for quite sometimes now but we were unsure if he really understands the word or not. Now we are pretty certain.

That makes me wonder what’s next. Could it be Mommy? Is it Obama? Or is it Yennadey Macha???

Then at dinner we caught Miki dancing to the Hot Dog Song; from the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse on TV. That show has been his favourite his he was about three months old. And he has been bopping his head since about a month ago. Azman said he’s a natural. That he was born a fan of Metallica (and Manchester United) thus the head banging dancing style. Wait till I introduce him to dangdut alright!

After dinner we let him loose to roam the entire living room. Our living room is very big. It would take a whole long TEN SECONDS for a snail to inch across. Not just any snail but a dying snail with arthritis! Miki took a quarter of a millisecond to wipe the entire floor surface with his shirt. Then suddenly he got quiet. We took our eyes off him for just a moment and already he was smeared with ketchup! Apparently Miki found a packet of McDonalds ketchup somewhere and he was feasting on it! My goodness, I hope it was chili sauce, BARU PADAN MUKA KAU!

Long day. Need to put him to sleep now before he pulls another naughty trick. Good night!

This photo was taken when he was 9 months old. That cheeky chap! Showing his bicep like a body builder! I was feeding him lunch. It was spinach. Maybe he tought he was Popeye… hmm…

Throughout my entire 21 years of life I have been asked these questions 21 gazillion times. About 200,000 times I vomited a bucket of blood. The rest two buckets. I am very much hoping that all the people in the world and aliens in the stars who read this will get the gist. Please understand that if I am asked any of these questions just one more time all the black heads on my face will shoot off and attack you like machine-gun.

Question 1: Can I call you Yana?
Yes if you want to die in the hands of the Retired Drama Queen. Slowly and painfully.

Question 2: Your name Diyana Yang is very long.. Can I call you Yang?
My finger is very long. If I poke into your eye ball I can reach your tongue and give it a tickle. Can I tickle your tongue?
Please call me Diyana. Not Yana, not Ana, not Mummy Miki, not Mikael’s Mom not Azman’s Orang Rumah. Thank you. If you really have pronunciation difficulties, you can call me Di. A lot of my friends call me that. Its not that I actually like it; I just have given up hope in getting them call me Halle Berry.

Question 3: Are you Anak Mami?
Just because I am from Penang and when I talk I shake my head left-right left-right and I ask Awat? Instead of Apa? It doesn’t mean that I am an Anak Mami, you foolish KL folks! IT’S THE NOSE! Can’t you see I barely have any?

Question 4: Why are you so thin?
Look closely behind my shoulder. There’s a pale woman with long hair. Her eyes are red, her mouth fanged. With blood dripping from them. She follows me everywhere. Everything I eat goes to her.
Ok now that scares even me! It is the METABOLISM people!! Meeetaaabooliiissssmmmm!

Question 5: Why are you eating chicken all the time?
Because they are a species that reproduces so quickly. If I don’t eat them soon they will populate the world! They will take over the country, the White House! And after they take over One Utama we will all die! Die! Die!
I heard chicken meat can make butts go big.

Dear Mikael,

At the age of nine months you have finally spoken. Honestly,it was not a big surprise, because you have been babbling almost since the day you popped out of me. When you were six months your babbles sound very much like actual words and you began to become very funny. Sometimes out of the blue you would make sounds that sound like ‘adoi’, ‘mama’,’papa’, and even ‘ayoyo!’ minus the Sivaji accent.

At seven months you occasionally called out ‘mama’ to both your father and I. And your ayoyos and adois continue. At eight months you called mama specifically to me, during those times when you need me really badly.

As much as I could be adamant that your first word is mama, I have swallowed the painful fact that you just said the word without full conception of its meaning. Perhaps mama! to you means ‘ I need a hug badly!’ or ‘ I want to watch Handy Manny!’. It could also mean ‘ Gimme The Boobs!’ or worse you could mean ‘ Stop blogging about my poop or I will write to all your Bosses!’. Well, who knows what you were trying to say although I am sure you would never meant the latter BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT A FOOL.

And finally at nine months you begin to utter a word at the right circumstances. Cat! That’s it! You can say Cat! Not at the dog, not at the teddy bear and neither at Catherine Zeta Jones! You say cat when you see a cat, dead or alive real or stuffed and when either one of us makes the meowing sound. Daddy and I am very much impressed with you kid! That is so cool!

Miki,

For the past couple of days, your Daddy kept telling me that you would answer cat! whenever he asks you ‘Miki, apa ni?’ which in English means ‘Miki, what is this?’. Even though the question was in Malay you didn’t answer kucing, you answered cat! You Daddy was very proud.

I didn’t give his remark a second thought however, because your Daddy sometimes just say things, you know! Like he is actually the Bruce Wayne of Puchong lah… and I look like Catwoman lah… and blablabla and yatayatayata…. Oh, the part about Catwoman is true by the way!

Anyhow, yesterday while we were playing on the floor suddenly your Daddy came to us with your stuffed cat and asked Miki, ni apa?. You smiled and you grinned and when he asked the second time you ANSWERED cat! Right in front of me you answered a question! With full confidence. With full comprehension!

You didn’t say catatatataa… or cat tak tak tak tak! You just said cat like you really understand the whole question-answer thing and most importantly, you understand the word with its correct meaning!

Perhaps other babies are doing this younger than you are, Miki, but at that very moment, I was so sorry for thinking that your Daddy has been hallucinating I hugged you tightly and my eyes began to water.

My God you have grown so big, son! And so fast! All these while I thought you are still that tiny little baby that I took home from the hospital, the one that had caused me the e.p.i.s.i.o.t.o.m.y, the one that was so helpless and fragile. But now you have talked. What’s next, Miki? Answering phone calls? Pranking 911? I am not prepared for all this, Miki! With much love and happiness I weep.

Love,
Mummy.

First we pack our bags and our Ci Miki too! It’s stuffy in there, just the diaper will do!

Then we headed down south and we stopped at Taman Mini Asean, here is Miki on the stairway looking lonely without a friend.

There were many pretty houses, too many to blog. Here is the two boys on the ladder so huge made of log.

Daddy pretends to make music and Mummy pretends to to be Nigella Lawson but no one can beat Miki’s brave pretend to get the Big Boy Cut! Ouch!!

By the time we reach the city, the dawn is falling, the view from the hotel is nice, the swimming pool inviting. The Eye of Malaysia is in Melaka, we were hoping its on service, for the ride must be mahal gila exciting. But sadly it was not, so we head for dinner and a walk in the city. Mummy is very jakun, never been sight seeing in Melaka, Miki is lucky, kecik-kecik dah berjalan merata!

More Miki’s pic later. Tata!

The two guys and I went to Melaka on Monday. We came back on Tuesday. We wanted to escape from the city and relax. Something like a vacation. But I searched my entire modulla oblongata and I coundnt find the justification to call a trip to Melaka, vacation. Maybe its hidden in the serebrum or in the pancreas but the logic is saying if you can hear the sound of Bani farting in Puchong then that place is not far enough to be called a vacation spot. And we could hear him prrootttt proottttt from the Mahkota Hotel that we were staying very well.

I packed a lot of stuff for the 2 days 1 nights stay, with a little kid like Miki you cannot travel light. There was his food and his clothes and diapers and his floaties. Then the cellphones, the notebook and camera and the charger of the cellphones and notebook and cameras. Phew! I packed too many stuff until I forgot to bring a spare pants for myself. Great! Luckily I could wear Miki’s shorts brought my undies else I might have pulled a Britney’s sepentot stunt. Ouch!

So I wore the same shocking pink Capri for two days. I was too lazy to get into the malls to find another pants. Ala… pelancong mana ada pakai baju melaram-laram kan? I was lucky too that Miki didn’t poop on my pants or anything. I didn’t poop in my pants too. I just farted a little bit.

I have tones of stories to tell and pictures to post, that will come later. Anyway here is me ( in my pink Capri) with Miki playing congkak at Taman Mini Malaysia.

I like this photo a lot. That’s me in the colorful shirt, my sister Shanaz in green and of course the little poser Mikael in the middle. Taken at my grandfather’s house in Kuala Kangsar, Miki was 8 and a half months old. I like the way Miki supports his body with one elbow while looking at the camera with a straight face. Exactly like a Tamil movie hero lah!!! hahaha!

Shanaz had just turned 23 on the 22 October. She is a Dean’s List student at USM, drives her car like a mad woman, and has a very ugly cat called Alex Bikonan. Who on earth would name her cat Alex Bikonan? Shanaz did. W.E.I.R.D. Happy Birthday Shanaz! Please return the bajus that you took from me, thank you.

Miki is wearing a shirt from MEXX that Lina bought in UK.

Too all my Indian readers, yes all 3 of you, Happy Deepavali!

I was cooking dinner last night with full enthusiasm. Sleeves rolled up my arms, sweat dripping from my forehead. To the floor ye kawan-kawan not into the food. I just got back from the office and straight away into the kitchen. Armed with the knife I was practically bersilat on the chopping board and looked like the leek was winning the battle.

Err.. I sound like I was cooking for all the Hobbits at the Shire now don’t I? Actually I was cooking for Azman only, haha! I wanted to make Ayam Masak Kurma but he said there is too much gravy in that and he would prefer the usual stir fried mixed vegetables.

No wonder I lack practice! Can you tell who is to be blamed for my culinary skills that gone nowhere from beginner to advancing beginner? Syed Bistro of course, their Bukhara Briyani is simply awesome!

Anyway as I was quite done with Marmite Beef with Soy Sauce and Tomatoes ( Daging Masak Kicap dengan Marmite dan Tomato lah!), Miki has started to bawl. He was in the living room and all his toys was strewn across the floor. I would be amazed if he would wanna play with them for he would rather spend quality time with the DVD, TV and the ASTRO decoder. By switching them on and off, on and off.

Miki has started to cruise ( meniti I think in Malay) and sometimes when he came to the end of the furniture he didnt know where else to go so he would cry till someone came to move him away. Last night was one of those annoying times.

I scooped my beef away from the stove, attend to the little screaming kid and then rush back to the kitchen.I switched back the fire and get my stir fried vege going. First saute the shallots and garlic then add in some chicken bits before the leeks, pathetically skinny Cameron Highlands asparagus and fresh mushroom. Add some chicken stok and sugar - AJINOMOTO is a NO NO!

And then…

You all thought I blown up my stove didnt you?

No, I was just wondering why the gravy looked so dark.

Then I realized that I used the same wok that I used to make the Marmite beef. Without washing it. Bummer. My vege had tasted slightly bitterish. Ughh! Dont worry noone get poisoned. And the vege was eaten to the last bit but now I wonder if I would ever move on from advancing beginner. Hmm..

I have tonnes and tonnes of his photos and I think I wanna post them up daily. Watch out for that. These are taken on his recent birthday at Putrajaya. Miki crawling around in his Marks & Spencer outfit.
