Miki 3 Years 3 Months – Tall, dark and handsome

As I am typing this, Miki is sprawled on a mattress spread on the floor of our living room. He is 100% focusing on Rio, his current favourite movie. He even leaves our iphones alone once the movie is on.

At three years and three months Miki’s obsession is still the iphone. If it wasn’t for Angry Bird Rio, I don’t Miki could ‘connect’ as much with the movie. He is still a pro in handling all the apps in that gadget, in fact I had to spend sometime looking at how to disable apps purchase because the lil boy is draining all the money in Daddy’s debit card paying for the apps of his choice! I don’t know how he manages to buying the apps despite the password protection but he does it like a piece of cake lah!

I was trying to educate him last week, on types of jobs and what people do. I explained to him, that when he has grown up he can become a teacher – someone who goes to school and teaches children a lot of stuff like reading, Maths and computers… He can also be a doctor – someone who works at the clinic or hospital, sick people visits him, he checks on what kind of sickness they have and give them medicine to make them better… Or Miki can also work like Daddy as an engineer. Different engineers do different things but Daddy makes TV!

I wanted to make myself an example too but I malas to explain “engaging new media in corporate communications” in words a three year old can understand.

So when I asked him, what he wants to be when he grows up, Miki’s eyes got bigger with excitement and he said, “Miki nak work engineer! Miki nak buat Iphone!”

Good luck my son! Mummy supports everything that you like to do as long as it doesn’t involve drugs, Akademi Fantasia and girls from that state in Malaysia.

Three years three months…

Built like Bruce Lee…

and as happy as can be….

Miki’s speech and language skills continue to become stronger. So far, he is very much the child that I want him to be, following my own language education plan. That is to communicate in Bahasa Melayu ( our native tongue) until he is good enough that he can tell stories in long, complete sentences and make his own commentaries. After that, he can proceed to learn English. This way, I think he can be good at both languages rather than being neither here nor there.

Anyway, talk about talking, Miki is talking like mak nenek!!!! I cannot stand his mak-nenekness!! He loves to go,

“Eh Mummy, jangan buat macam ni…. Tak baik tau! Nanti Tuhan marah…”
Did you just tarbiah me kid? OMG! Sangat tak perlu okkaaay…

He loves to report his daily activities at Mama Rose’s but only to Daddy. I guess he just prefers to have man-to-man talk rather than telling girly Mummy anything. The moment he hops onto Daddy’s car in the evenings he would straight away tell him how today Along eats Maggi… Along asks him if he wants Maggi and he answers yes. Then he would describe what is the Maggi like… it was soupy and stuff…

He would report on how much Kak Ngah likes to beat up Amir, how Kak Ngah takes her pencil to smack Amir and how he himself “Buushhhh” Kak Ngah on the face! *pengsan*

With me however, Miki will not tell a thing. If I ask how his day has been, his will answer lazily “Miki tak tahu lah…..”

His appetite is also good in fact he is eating a large portion of food every time. Still eating lots of vegetables and sometimes he seems to be craving for the green stuff when they are not served to him in a day or two. Versatile formula milk drinker. I must have mistakenly bought strawberry-flavored milk powder for his consumption at Mama Rose’s but he has no problem at all! He drinks regular milk at home and strawberry-flavored milk at her place. Susu apa-apa pun boleh.. semua wallop up to 4 bottles per day.

Miki is extremely manja and mengada-ngada. Despite knowing how to ‘salam’ with people and kissing their hands when he was just 12 months, now Miki is very mengada! He doesn’t want to salam with people anymore! We already told him that if he is that stuck up one more time, he will kena rotan! Jaga!

Mummy is a little bit busy these days, Miki… Mummy wishes she can write more in this blog especially about you… You are growing so very fast and every single day you are learning something new. I am sorry for not being able to spend more time with you kid! But always remember that you are always on my mind and I love you to bits! Muax!

Buying a fridge

I cannot believe I find it so hard to upload this blog. Writer’s block, something that I thought never really exist finally gets into me and despite having 1001 interesting things to jot down in this blog; my free time is spent playing Plants and Zombies with Miki instead of writing.

I am currently shopping for a new fridge. The one we have in our house right is unbelievably small. It can fit an entire Miki inside it but I love it to bits because it was a wedding present from a few of my girlfriends (I LOVE YOU GUYS! THANKS!).

It has been serving us for the past five years with no problem at all but now I just feel like having a new one to match my kitchen. Haha!

Once we started to look around for a unit that we like, only we realize how hard it can be.
Currently, I have always these problems with my fridge:
1) Fruits and vegetables spoil very quickly
2) Food odors
3) Cramp freezer space, ready-to-eat food is kept together with raw food like fish and meat.

So I guess what I really need is a huge one with many separated compartment to avoid cross contamination. Being a typical Malaysian I am also dead influenced with all the extra features like the vitamin generator and anti-bacterial AG clean whatchamacallit to fight problem 1 & 2 above.

I think the French door fridge is kinda cool and no doubt it is very spacey. Same goes with the Side-by-side type. They kinda make me feel pretty Nigella-Lawsonny… hahahaha…

The price of these French door type fridges start at RM3300 and above. Which is not so bad considering we buy our refrigerator at least every 5 years. Then I start to consider those with water ( and ice) dispenser, that’s kinda cool too and it costs only a few hundreds pricier.

But is the water dispenser feature worth investing? I can foresee cleanliness issue that the water tank may face after sometime. Maybe I should just get a Side-by-side fridge. Most of those from this type come with many closed compartments that I like and evergy saving too. They are called Side-by-side because the freezer is separated from the cooler vertically, which means they offer really huge freezer space, perhaps more that I really need.

You see, our household is totally not contributing to the growth of ice-cream industry. I can’t remember when was the last time we ice-cream in the fridge. Miki’s era of drinking frozen breastmilk has also long gone so all I need in a freezer is making ice-cubes and storing frozen meat and fish.

OK! Darn it.. I don’t which fridge that I need. Susah giler pilih.. beli handbag lagi senang… *mata bersinar*
