Ladies and gentlemen, to the many-many people that have been asking Diyanazman the no.1 frequently asked question, I am now ready to answer. First I want to thank you for your utmost concern. I am now 8 weeks pregnant. You may now send me the 9 month supply of folic acid and Anmum, I know you were dying to give me these presents because you have been asking about the progress of my ovum and Azman’s sperms a thousand times since the moment we touched down from our honeymoon in Bali last year. Janganlah malu-malu, hantarkan saja hadiah-hadiah tersebut ye?
Azman and I planned to conceive our first baby after we have had our mountain climbing adventure because pregnant women don’t climb mountains duh! unless they want to their kids to grow up and become a sherpa. Ever since we bought the hotel and flight tickets to Kota Kinabalu in April, every month I anxiously wait for my period because a skipped one would mean our baby will be doomed to be born to a non mountain-climber parents and we will be doomed because the hotels & airline don’t give refunds.
In May, for the first time Azman did the most charming dance around the house just like Rumpelstiltskin around the fire like I have never seen before. We were overjoyed watching the double pink lines appear before our very eyes. It was almost too good to be true, conceived exactly after we came back from our KK trip, and to be born in January 2008, just as planned! We have always wanted a New Year baby! Praise be to Allah the Al-Mighty.
We went for our first scan yesterday, 9 June 2007. Words can’t describe the feeling we had inside as we listened to the doctor explaining and pointing at the magical heart of our child beating. Our very own heart was overflowing with love as we squint our eyes trying to locate the little heart but we just couldn’t see it. Dammit.
But we could see the over all look of our little 8 weeks old baby. It’s unbelievable! It’s like magic! I can’t believe I have this little wonder growing in my flat belly. I think it looks like the cutest little dinosaur ever.
Just when we were relieved and thankful to know that our little T Rex baby is alive and well, the doctor spotted another sac besides the earlier one. It appeared slightly smaller, and unfortunately empty. She couldn’t locate any baby in it. I asked her a dozen questions about it, is my baby okay? Am I having twins? What are the effects of the empty sac to me and my baby? Being a typical doctor, she just played it safe. I am to meet her again two weeks from now to check on the progress of the empty sac. Only then she could confirm on my situation. So far she could only say that probably I have a vanishing twin, whereby the empty sac will soon be dissolving and absorbed by my body. Phew!! I guess we came this close to having twins!
