Say no more, Malaysia has been humiliated in the Asia Cup (Again..and again..)
As expected, Malaysia have lost to China in Asia Cup Group stage. However, to be humiliated 1-5 in Malaysia home soil is a total disgrace.
To make it even worse, Malaysian players seem to enjoy the result and didn’t feel any embarrassment whatsoever. Just after the match, they were clapping their hands and chatting to each others just like nothing had happen.
After the match while reading the list of Malaysian players, my friend, Cok Man realized that something is wrong with Malaysia player selection.
First team players featuring ;
3 players from Selangor , 3 players from Pahang , and 1 player each from NS Naza, Perak, Perlis, TMM & MyTeam.
The weird thing about the player selection is there were no player from the current Malaysian top club, Kedah. Kedah is currently sharing top spot with Perak in Malaysia Super League and recently, they have beaten Perlis in FA Cup Final to be crowned as FA Cup Champion!!. Even Perak & Perlis only have 1 representative in Malaysia squad. Funny isn’t it??
I listed below some sad truth about current Malaysia squad in Asia Cup;
1. Majority of Malaysia first team players come from Super League 8th place, Pahang and Super League bottom 3 placing, Selangor.
2. Malaysia Captain was actually from 2nd division league club, UPP/MyTeam. Hahahahaha..
3. Not a single player from currently Malaysia FA Cup Champion and Malaysia Super League leader, Kedah.
4. Malaysia league (local) top scorer, Khalid Jamlus wasn’t even selected for the squad.
5. All Top 5 league (local) top scorers also weren’t even selected for the squad. Our coach, Norizan Bakar still relies on off form and tiring Akmal Rizal Rakhli and also Indra Putra Mahyuddin and Hairuddin Omar that didn’t score a single goal in league to get the goal for our squad.
6. No player from Kedah and only a single player from Perak have been given a defensive role for Malaysia squad although they have the best defensive record in the league.
While reading this, do you realize that our current soccer team actually has been represented by NOT the best players in Malaysia??? There is something wrong with the squad selection. Does our manager really handle the selection process? Did he watch the local league matches? And is he really alert about what is happening to the Malaysia league??
We are the worst team in Asia Cup and playing against one of the best team in Asia, and he choose to play “open football” just like Brazil… what a joke! Hopefully…Malaysia will manage to get a better result against Uzbekistan and Iran.
So, who’s to blame this time??
FAM Management ??
The pitch ???
…or Manchester United for canceling their tour to Malaysia due to this Asia Cup….?
Yeah!…I miss Manchester United.
//Update 17.07.2007// …And Again….Uzbekistan defeated Malaysia 5-0.
Deputy FAM President, Tengku Abdullah ready to take the blame and resign from his post.
Datuk Seri Dr Ibrahim Saad, the general secretary might also give up his seat.
Then, FAM’s independent council member Khairy Jamaluddin has quit his post with immediate effect.
However, FAM President, Sultan Ahmad Shah…refuses to step down because he’s not a coward and since 1984, he has made FAM rich and gave every affiliate subsidies.
Say no more….
The best joke came from my friend e-mail, Mayol..
Uzbekistan 5-0 Malaysia
Happy 50th Malaysia Independence Day..Merdeka!!
…The best Merdeka gift from our FAM and Malaysian players!!
//Update 18.07.2007// ..And Again….Malaysia lose 0-2 against Iran
At last…on the day Malaysia drop to rank 154 in FIFA ranking, Malaysia played defensively!! It’s the only way Malaysia can taste success in the international level. Our benchmark should be Greece, Serbia and Croatia and not Brazil or Manchester United. Iran only scored 2 goals, 1 goal at each half and they hit the post twice and wasting a couple of clear chances in front of our goal post!! Lucky??.. maybe…however, please remember.. when you played defensive…it will gives more pressure to the opponent forward and they will easily make mistakes.
The only problem with Malaysia squad last night was Norizan strategy ( if he really have one..) and lack of quick and intelligent player…Malaysia should play counter attack and not ultra defensive and waiting to lose in smaller margin. So, for next time, Malaysia should select younger and faster players to play counter-attack style. No more sluggish Hairuddin, Indra Putra and Hardi Jaafar !!
As I said before, Aidil Zafuan should be given a chance to play for our nation first team because he’s a good example of fast and tough tackling defender. He proved it last night!!
Although there are nothing to be proud of….. This should be considered as Malaysia best performances in this year AFC Asian Cup because Malaysia managed to get a couple of good chances against Asian powerhouse, Iran.
Lastly, when I think again about last night result and the commentator comments, it’s really funny when your team lose 0-2 and the whole nation feel happy with it ..hahahaha…..
