Penang that I miss the most

On Saturday we took a trip back to Penang, mainly to send my mother who has been spending the week with us to help me take care of the poopie Miki at the hospital, and because deep down inside we were needing a little break from all the chaos that has been going lately.

The moment we arrived on the island, my brother Dodi called to say that he and his family is going to the beach to wait for the fisherman’s boat to arrive. His father in law, right after his retirement has decided to spend his days fishing. Isn’t that cool? I think that is so great! When I am retired, I wanna plant kangkung and sell them at Pasar Tani. And eBay. While blogging. Azman wants to ride super bike though, I don’t really agree with that but if he can delivers my kangkung in his super bike, I could let him.

So instead of heading straight home, we stopped by at Teluk Kumbar beach. It is no Batu Ferringhi white sandy beach but more of a fisherman’s bay. Never the less, it is very beautiful. I have never appreciated this place during the years that I spent living in Penang but now I think this place is so very special.

It wasn’t Miki’s first time going to the see the ocean but it was sure his first time being let go roaming the beach. And boy, wasn’t he fascinated? We let him play with the sand and run around collecting sea shells with Sarah, his 2years plus cousin. Sarah’s older brothers, Adam and Arash was busy playing sepak takraw on the beach too.

You just don’t get this in the city.

You can smell salt in the air. You can see the boats hit by the waves and they hit you in heart too. With so much serene and happiness. We need to go back kampong more often.

a walk at the beach

It was a beautiful afternoon. Walking with Daddy on the beach.

playing with sand

Miki put sand in his mouth a couple of times. He is a child of  inquisitive. His curiosity got him wanting to taste objects that could and had been making him sick. But we still let him play under our observations. Playing builds character!
