Have you heard the story about “Cindai” by Siti Nurhaliza? That the song is somehow ghostly and once there was this girl who sang it to herself late at night and she heard another mysterious female “voice” singing along her?
Have you heard about the classic Malay song of “Ulit Mayang” that if played repeatedly on lonely nights could get you possessed by the spirits of the Princesses described in the song?
I myself was told when I was a kid that it isn’t a good thing to be singing out loud late at night because it could attract ungodly creatures from the other dimension. When my aunt said that, I was only 6 and yet I knew her motive TO STOP ME FROM SINGING BECAUSE SHE COULDN’T STAND THE NOISE POLLUTION!
Anyway, last night I was doing my chores alone after Azman and Miki had gone to sleep. Deep in my own thoughts, I found myself singing the nursery rhyme from my childhood that I have just started to introduce to my own son. In fact it was the lullaby that had put Miki to sleep earlier.

Belalang Kupu-kupu…
Tepuk Miki pandai..
Mummy upah susu…
Susu lemak manis…

Mummy nak pergi work…
Believe it or not at every bold word above, I heard a distance voice ECHOING MY OWN. The sound is almost mocking, almost trying to complete my sentence!
At the panicky moment I thought of nothing else but my aunt. I guess she was not lying after all!!! My singing was NOT that bad! We really are not supposed to sing on late lonely nights!!!
OH MY GOD!!
I quickly turned my head to my left…. To the source of that sound and I saw MIKI!!
TAK TIDUR-TIDOR LAGI BUDAK NI!! YA ALLAH…. SUDAH-SUDAH LA MAIN MELOMPAT-LOMPAT TU NAK OOOI.. PERGI LA TIDOOOOR!!!!

Note – Miki always sings along the songs that he knows and loves the most… His pronunciation is really cute and that got us laughing. You know how he says MUDA in this song? It’s MUDER! Tak abis-abis slang KL uolls!!! Mak pasrahhh…

i was watching tv alone and suddenly got a call from jenab (bukan nama sebenar).
jenab : (dengan suara seraknya yg seram) weiii…best la party mat som (bukan nama sebenar), rugi hang tak datang
aku yg comel: hahhhh…party? bila plak abg hang buat party? dia tak jemput aku pun.
jenab : haaa…tak jemput hang….oppssss! tapi kenapa tak jemput hang? ingat hang dgn mat som BFF?
