I am very happy to note that in my whole 19 months of motherhood, my son finally has set free his habit of refusing sleep. Free like a delicate white dove above the bright blue sky. Free like the second bottle of soap after you bought the first one!
And myself as his Mummy and Azman as his Daddy is also very happy! Happy! Happy!
All you parents of sleep-well babies may not understand this. But the joy of tucking my son to bed at night without having to turn the house upside down and scream “TIDURLAH MIKI!!! DAH PUKUL BERAPA NI, MUMMY NAK KERJA ESOOOKKKKKKK!!” louder than thunder, is the purest of all happiness and often I shed tears of bliss looking at my baby falling asleep before I sail myself to slumberland. Then I jump off the bed and go watch The Nanny. Pathetic.
At one year and seven months, Miki can finally go to sleep after we sing to him or preferably tell him his current favorite story – a Diyana the First Time Mum’s Malay version of Humpty Dumpty.

Lepas tu Humpty Dumpty jatuh!
Lepas tu Humpty Dumpty pecah!
Lepas tu Horse datang nak tolong.
Tapi tak boleh tolong sebab Humpty Dumpty dah pecah!

Miki loves this story so much ( he loves the song too!) that he can memorize it and tell it back to us in keywords that he knows; Dum Dum for Humpty Dumpty, dinding for wall, jatuh for fall, pecah for break and horse. I think I will add more difficult words in my stories as we go on later. 🙂
Please excuse my melodramatic story telling in this video. I am like that. At 1:36 see he said “Daddy!” and jeling role his eyes to Azman. He always feel like his Daddy is the one who pushed Humpty Dumpty till he fall and boy doesn’t that kid likes to blame his old man for everything. Same thing with why Rabbit lose the race with Tortoise. All Daddy’s fault! Haha!

My bedtime story to my son is Sang Kancil dgn Buaya..dia suka part “1,2,3 lekuk! Jantan betina aku ketuk!!” Teringat animation series kat TV Pendidikan dulu. Skarang dah turun kan kat anak2 plak.
Next is Monyet and the chillies story..”Jangan monyet!”
