Princess and the Frog and the Three Little Boys

About a few months ago Miki has started to put on a pair of pants on his own and wear his shoes – although sometimes on the wrong feet- SUCCESSFULLY all by himself! Just like a big big boy already. With the achievements of those milestones, his Daddy and I decided that Miki must be taken to the theaters to watch a movie.

Can you see the relation between getting himself dressed and a movie? Neither can I. But what the heck.

So we bought tickets to see Princess and The Frog, a Walt Disney animation based on the Grimm brother’s fairy tales ‘The Frog Prince at GSC IOI Mall on Sunday.

miki and tickets

I dunno Mummy, all these romantic movies, they dont really go with my hairstyle..

Holding on to the fact that yours truly has been a very experienced Mom of about six hundred and eighty days, I trusted my instinct that if we were to keep children quiet for sometime they must be bribed with food!

Actually it is not my instinct. I lied. That is fact based on a police’s study on CRIMINAL BEHAVIOUR about how kidnappers keep their kidnapped children shut up. USE FOOD. Yeah, criminals are better moms than me, I know! I know! YOU HAPPY???

So I bought a tub of popcorn, a tank of drinks, a huge blob of lollipop (like alang-alang rosakkan minda apa kata rosakkan gigi sekali?), a bag of Cheezel and well this is an all time must-have – A CUPPA DADONG aka sweet corn.

in the movies

Enjoying his lollipop…

And hip hip hooray!! My criminal-like rocket-science formulated plan worked!! Miki kept his mouth shut around the lollipop, his eyes on the screen FOR 10 MINUTES! Right after the advertisements end, he took Bobo strolling up and down the aisle!

Police’s study?! What was I thinking? I knew I should have followed Nanny Fine.

We sat at the last row on a couple’s seat thinking Miki wouldn’t be surrounded by and disturbed too many people. During the first few minutes he really did keep his attention glued on the screen. He even laughed at the funny parts and feasting on the goodies. Azman and I were mighty pleased.

But shortly after that we noticed that the little boy of about 4-5 years old who sat in front of us was munching popcorn while jumping up and down on the aisle. And we were mighty worried!

This was bad! If Miki saw this he was gonna immediately appoint that boy as his Panggung Wayang Guru and copy his acts every single bit and THAT WAS EXACTLY WHAT HE DID!

The two of them giggled happily. Running up and down the aisle for about a hundred times. Laughed at each other silly. Rolled on the carperted floor and when they were tired they just lay on their backs with their tiny heads on the higher steps like they were sunbathing on the beach. Miki, his new Guru and Bobo. Three little naughty boys having fun while Tiana was busy working on her restaurant with Prince Naveen.

Can you imagine Miki ran down the steps of the aisle until the most front row and I completely lost him in the darkness. We kept chasing him and bringing him back up but once Miki was going so fast I chased him ACROSS THE SCREEN!!! Lucky the screen was high (or was it me chasing my hyper 89cm tall kid while crawling on all four faster than an alligator?) else all the people in theater would have seen two additional actors in the movie looking very non-jazzy!

Oh by the way, I hope everything would turned out well for Tiana because ya know em men, once a playa, no ring on the finger can stop em from being a playa..

So okay kiddo! Hope you have enjoyed watching the trailers before the movie. Don’t worry, Mummy will take you here again, promise!! AFTER TEN YEARS!!!

  6. hahahahaa I like!!! my friend said she started bringing her kids to movie when they were 5 years old. Lambatnya lagik!

  7. Haha. I read this and rolled over on my carpeted office floor 😛

The first time I took Isaac to theater was when he was 2yo too. Can’t remember what show was it but he was also running up and down the aisle. Of course, it was because another guru too la. And, that time, I promised to myself that I will wait for another 1o years to take him to cinema again. But hell to the yes, I took him for his second time a week after, to watch a romantic movie (our type of movie) because we couldnt manage to get a babysitter and I couldnt wait for another day.

We took him to cinemas at least once a month, just to make him getting used to it. And now he is great in cinemas. No more noise. No more jumping up and down. Just sitting quietly on his seat munching a pail of popcorn. Yes, the police’s study is actually quite correct. Feed them with food. But not sweet food 🙂

  8. pengakuan ikhlas dari bapak aku. dia bawak aku tengok movie umur aku 7 tahun ok! dan dia tak pernah bawak aku gi kenduri kendara bersendirian tanpa arwah mak aku. kalau bawak aku gi kenduri, paling lama 30 minit pun dah cukup bagus. kalau hang nak bawak gak miki tgk wayang, try bawak tgk citer hantu…mesti dia diam kot. kalau citer hantu pun x diam…mmmmm….aku tak taw hahaha
