The Deadliest Catch of Penang

I can’t remember if I have written about how lucky Miki is when it comes to having two great hometowns aka kampung. His Dad’s kampung is in Kedah where a paddy field is located practically a stone’s throw from Atuk and Opah’s house. While my Mum’s house or Miki’s Opah Penang’s is located 10 minutes walking away from the beach.

So Miki can get great experiences from visiting the beautiful green paddy fields with birds and bugs and buffaloes. He can play in the cooling creek with colorful pebbles, and see what wonderful world God has created everytime we go back Kedah.

And in Penang he can swim in the sea, build sand castles, collect sea shells. As the wind blows he can fly his kite and see how magnificent nature can be and how blessed he is to be able to enjoy all this.

I have always wanted Miki to gain first hand experience because to me books will not build character and wisdom but a child will learn it all through play and experience.

On the 3rd day of Raya we were in Penang and my nephews, Adam and Arash took us (to take them) to Tanjung Asam beach. You most probably have never heard of this name, it’s nothing compared to Batu Feringghi and all but it is gorgeous nontheless.

Perhaps because of the clouds in the sky, and the reflection of light through the great green leaves, the little lagoon was astonishingly green and pretty! I love it! The sky was blowing and above the highest twigs I saw an eagle circling the  sky. What a sight. It has been so long since I relaxed and admire the sky, I almost forgot how blissful it could be!

This picture is not very good, I was supposed to focus on the eagle but I guess I am no photographer. hehe..  See below on how pretty the lagoon could be! Miki has become very brave nowadays… He played in the water all by himself.

See first he was just at the edge of the water…

And then he went splish splash deeper, the water was up to his waist already!

Then my lil chikadee was wading in deeper… this was the last pic I took of him before I panicked. He was going away to deeper waters and Azman had to chase after him! Bahaya sungguh Miki!!! Terlebih berani dah ni!

When I was calling out to Azman to get Miki, get what my beau was doing?

Joining the boys catching crabs! Azman had an adventurous childhood so this was very much fun to him, kinda bring him back to his old times. Mine was not so adventurous I was kinda nerdy hehe.. But I did join them chasing after the little critters as well and wow what a thrill, the crabs can move so fast!

Adam and Arash had fishing rods that was soon forgotten when catching this lil guy had really deemed more fun!! Check this out!

Pretty Purple Crab!  I have never seen a crab that is purple before! So cute!! Weeee…. There were also this tiny baby fishes in my Mom’s Tupperware too. Tu diaahhhh tangkap ikan taruk dalam Tupperware ko!

After so much at the sea, they also managed to get seekor Anak Sembilang di Tapak Tangan. Hehe. Isn’t cute? Not if it stings you! On the next day, the baby sembilang has killed a house lizard by its sting. Dasyattt!!

Can’t wait to balik kampung again so that we can revisit and re-do all this simple  but fun activities. I miss my kampung…hmmm…
