About a week after we were robbed, Azman and I installed a home alarm system at our house. For some time, we were so traumatized, scared and we could barely sleep at night.
Apart from praying to God what else could we do? Keep a Rottweiler? Buy a gun? Bela hantu raya? In the end, we called the guys from ADT.
This entry is not an advertorial. ADT did not pay me (although maybe they should). But I just want to share my thoughts since I have been getting many thought provoking opinions, solicited and mostly not in regards to home alarm systems.
Opinion 1:
Home Alarm System is pointless. ADT will never catch the robbers! The police will still have to do it!
Opinion 2:
The home system decal that you hang outside of your house will invite more robbers. Because these professional robbers would know what alarm system you are using and deactivate it.. These robbers are usually the “inside people”!
Opinion 3:
It’s bloody expensive! Wasting money!!!
Opinion 4:
Even when you have an alarm, it doesn’t mean that the robbers won’t break in….
Trust me I heard these points way too many times from way too many people. The number one conclusion that I can make is – All of them have never had their houses broken into by burglars!
If they have, they would know that we have no intention in becoming heroes and serve justice by catching these culprits. Although I could always taste it in mouth how satisfying it would be if I could use my 3 inch heels to kick the burglars’ tummy and face ten million times but no! All I wanted to be is NOT A VICTIM! (Opi.1)
While the cops do not need to be reminded of their tasks in reducing crime, I want these robbers to stay away from my house, rob other houses if they have too just not mine! That’s how the decal (Opi.2) comes into play. My house currently looks like it is an advertising media for ADT. We have the alarm box on top floor in front of the house, a decal hanged on the balcony at the garden or left side of the house and last one, another decal on front gate. We decided to find out more about ADS Automatic Door Specialists as we really need to change our entry gate.
Maybe some “inside ADT people” knows how to disconnect the communication from the monitoring center but are you saying that all burglars are that knowledgeable? Out of all the penyamun tarbus in Puchong, how many do you think can do that? Two out of ten? So why not reduce to possibilities of the potential 8 penyangak that usually go breaking in premises blindly.
These decals to the house functions the same was as a t-shirt that says “I HAVE AIDS AND HIV” to the wearer. As a repellant! Put it this way, if you are a burglar, and you know what that decal means, why would you wanna break in that particular house?
Baik masuk rumah Rohaiza! Kan? Hehe
Even when these smart burglars have earlier cut the telephone line or whatever system they are using, the alarm can still rang independently and alert you or your neighbors.
However, let’s look at another break in possibility. An Indon contract worker just arrived in Malaysia and eagerly embarks on a stealing career. He doesn’t know what ADT on the decal means. He thought maybe it’s the home owner’s worshipped religion. So armed with a parang he jumped over the fence and force open a door. Without even a chance to enter the house, the alarm suddenly goes off and Supartoyo (giler jawa bukan nama sebenar) flees the crime scene.
(Opi.4) Had there was no alarm system, Supartoyo could have rummage the entire house, bag in all the valuable or worse, put the parang on your three year old’s neck!
For those who has never experience burglary, let me tell you that even the simplest case like Supartoyo’s could cause a lot of impact. Although he didn’t run away with jewelries, cash, dslrs etc. But you still have a broken door to fix (that costs money), you would change your locks and the fear! The fear lingers around for some time.
So would I lose hope after listening to those opinions? I don’t think so. The money (Opi.3) is not that much and worth the good night sleep I have knowing that I am secured. You can spend so much money on bags and sport rims, rumah takmau kasi secure ka?

it is good to have alarm system. As people always say prevention is better. And i know you have been robbed twice. Once buy a penyamun who took your purse on the table and the second one was the major one recently.
So, it’s good that u r taking preventive measures especially u hv Miki. Yg lain tuh..persetankan mereka dgn komen2 mereka. aahahaha

very sory for your experience with the, we from kedaicctv.com , local based company with affordable budget and high quality alarm system , actually alarm can be use for notify and delaying the prosses for the pencuri to come in, pencuri boleh potong wire telifon / unifi di rumah yg berada dioutside for them to by pass, and for the inside people to bypass is dificult, because all the wiring normally is inside you house, unless if you dont change the password..they can disarm it. so when , fix line being cut off, thats will be make your home not conected to the outside world line and not conected to the police, but still your Adt can call u to notify the cut off. my opinion, why dont use the free system provide by pdrm? this app link direct to pdrm, no need to monthly installment.. use our free panic button. watch it here http://ipanic.kedaicctv.com its FREE link panic button to PDRM.
