Salam Aidilfitri 2013 – Our Green Hari Raya

Korang tak gaduh ye?” I was asked a week before Raya when I told a friend that we haven’t decided on which Kampung to go back to for Raya. Well, it is not like Azman and I are super tolerant which each other or anything but we are just lucky our hometowns are just an hour plus away from each other. From Ampang to Putrajaya also sometimes takes that long to commute right? So it is really no big deal.

This year, the route was decided when we were already travelling from Kinrara up north. We arrived at 3 am in Penang at my mom’s house, bersahur and the next day on Raya eve, have a great berbuka puasa feast with my mom, brother, sister and the rest of the families. It is like a family tradition, the last buka puasa has got to be a significant occasion. I love it.

After Miki and Rafa was done with their bunga api (that’s not exactly right, they can never be done with bunga api… main sampai raya tahun depan pun boleh) we grab our bags and balik Kedah pulak since Azman wanted to perform his Solat Raya in his childhood mosque. Then on 2nd day of Raya, again we drove back to Penang. Everybody is happy and puas hati! hehe

Here are our Raya pictures taken at Azman’s parents’ house… The theme this year was supposed to be turqoise but color blind that I am, we ended up with this green…

Here is 3 generations of Aziz Ahmad’s family. That’s  Azman’s big sister in blue baju kurung and his little sister in brown maternity dress. This is the only picture with Miki tak gedik sangat… hehe

family cucu comel

Opah, Atuk and cucu-cucu… Kegedikan Miki agak melampau… Kenangisan Rafa juga begitu…

Rafa and cousin Ariff berebut toy bus… Ariff is 2 and he is so adorable. He has cheeks that look like he is hiding meat balls inside them.. haha.. After Solat raya, we went to Grik to visit the  boys’ great grandmother. She is 92 years old this year and still healthy and strong. Alhamdulillah, I wish she would tell me her secret… But if I ask, I bet she will say, “Bacalah Quran setiap hari…” Haa.. lepas tu aku nak jawap apa pulak? hehe
We visit Miki and Rafa’s Tok Moyang each and every time we can.. dont know long she will still be with us.. Blessed Tok Moyang!

happy raya

This is Miki and Haqeem, Miki was  born in Jan 2008 while Haqeem was in Dec 2008. 12 months of difference but still sebaya. hehe. I am very glad they can get along very well together. They are cousins and I really hope they can be good frends until they grow up.

Last but not least, here is Tuan Tanah under a bouganvilla tree in from of my in law’s garden. I love this baju raya of mine, it makes me look normal instead on twiggy thin. hehe… It is from a not-so-famous designer so baguslah cause I have been beraya in several places and I am yet to meet with anybody wearing the same baju as mine. Unlike those creations by ehemmm… ha ko! baju sama boria sana sini… Oops terkutuk!

baju raya hijau

I am sure all of you have enjoyed your Raya or the Raya holidays too… I hope non got involved in a serious argument about which kampung to balik to… This probably is our 7th or 8th Raya together, and I am glad Azman and I can still talk it through. To all my readers and friends, Selamat Hari Raya Maaf Zahir dan Batin. Apologies if any of my stories in this blog offends you. I wish you guys a great Syawal ahead, careful while driving on the read and careful jangan baju tersama di hari raya! Muahhh….

Much love,

Diyana
