My Own Grape Vine – Growing Grapes In Malaysia

Hi everyone… I just came back from 4-days working trip to Sandakan, Sabah and the first thing I went to after hugs and kisses and gomoi(s) my little boys were my little garden.

Early this year we has a glorious edible garden, bustling with vegetables and herbs plus beautiful pet rabbits that make our garden a really cozy place. But then one day, those cute bunnies broke out of their cage and within hours, gone all the sawi, bayam, cabbage, kangkung. They dug holes on the ground and destroyed the roots of my limau purut plant that I loved so I had no more daun limau for tomyam or masak paprik. Also totally disappeared were my daun kunyit and sweet basil. My rosemary plant was spared I guess they didn’t to eat that fragrant plant.

Syahdu wooo… Ingat senang nak tanam semua tu? The veges can easily be planted again but limau purut and cabbage are not… Nasib baik we tak sampai hati nak makan else dah kena sembelih dah semua rabbits ni.hehe!

After the incident, Azman went to several business trips in US, China etc and he didn’t have time to rejuvenate the garden. I was busy as well and in May the entire family went on vacation for 3 weeks leaving the garden unattended. Kesian betul..

The only plants left were the exotic bunga kantan, daun kari, serai, some flowers and my beloved pokok anggur.. 🙂

And this is Malaysian grapes. Ini aje yang kami termampu tanam. Every bunch is this small  only and the taste is very sour nobody eats them. LOL.. If you would like to grow grapes as well, you need to grow it in a sunny place because it needs 80-100 % sunlight daily. Prun regulalrly to ensure it keeps bearing flowers and fruit. But I am still waiting for the right fertilizer and watering technique so that the grapes will be more edible.

Nevertheless I am still loving this plant coz it is really pretty and birds love making nests on them. So if you guys know how to plant sweet grapes in Malaysia share with me OK! Have a nice day!

  1. Kaedah penjimatan terbaik kalau dah tanam sayuran dan lain2x.Nak masak aja terus petik daun dari kebun.Fresh lagi…samalah saya.nak masak nasi goreng tengah malam sbb anak tiba2x lapar nak makan, cili api dah habis dalam peti ais, keluar kejap petik cili api di tepi rumah..senangkan.. 🙂

  2. Azrin.. Ye memang betul tu! especially herbs macam daun kunyit, daun limau, serai tu semua kalau nak beli mahal bukan main padahal nak guna sikit ajer. baik tanam sendiri. you ada share kat blog pasal gardening tak? sila share nak baca!
