Update Kebun Sayur Encik Azman #urbangardener #ediblegarden

Hello everybody! It is now November 2014 already, gosh.. Next month is December and then January, Miki masuk darjah 1! Pengsannn… Anyway, hari ni nak cerita pokok-pokok lah!

For those have been reading this blog, you’d probably know that Azman and I am self-proclaimed #urbangardener because we grow many edible plants and flowers too in our little garden. Our main problem with gardening is you can’t take it around with you. Many a times, we have kept the garden glorious and it is raya so off we balik kampung for 2 weeks and when we come it is padang jarak padang tekukur.

To solve that problem, either we install the sprinkler or get a garderner but let’s not talk about that for now LOL! Recently we have revitalized our abandoned garden and now we have happy plants growing and producing food for us again. Makes me feel happy and contented… 🙂

We bought this petunia and it was small but now look how pretty it is and best thing is I have grown two more petunia plants from this one through stem cutting. 🙂

When we were in Los Angeles, we saw a very nice edible garden at The Natural History Museum. There were herbs and vegetables, flowers, blueberries and fruits. The grape vine was growing on the railings of a small bridge thingy… It looked so nice! So Azman attempted to do the same, he moved our 7 ft high grape plant to start climbing around our concrete fence. He did this 2 weeks ago and on Sunday I saw many little buds growing from the vines. Eh I cannot wait until they melilit-lilit all over our fence… For Malaysian climate, in a regular garden at a regular house, it is gonna be epic!

Bawah ni pokok jagung… Ini pun kelakar jugak. One day at the supermarket, we saw some vegetables at the clearance section and 2 pieces of sweet corn was selling for 50sen. I bought with the purpose of hanging it out in the garden to feed the birds but then they ended growing so healthily takde sapa tanam… hahaha! Bagus betul pokok jagung ni… Tak terfikir nak tanam jagung. Entah macam mana boleh tumbuh pulak dan dah berbunga pun…. 🙂

Below on the left is pucuk manis and on the right is pokok kunyit. The turmeric has withstand many attacks by catterpillar (my worst fear), grasshopper, ladybugs, siput vavi and beetles. We don’t have any pesticides at the moment we used to have a bottle or organic lemon grass bug repellent. But that hardly worked anyway so my approach to pests is TANGKAP DAN BUNUH. Sekian.

Below is cili and bunga kantan. Alhamdulillah.. Kami banyak bersedekah dekat orang bunga-bunga ni.. Time musim perayaan sekuntum berharga RM8 ko!

Haha! That’s all for now, I must say so far we have very successful in growing leafy vegetables and flowers but no luck in fruiting plants like kacang panjang, pumpkin etc. Takpe! Kita cuba lagi!

To my fellows #urbangardener …. Happy gardening! 🙂
