Not Yet Three – Kisah Miki

In 5 days time, Luth Mikael “Miki” Azman will turn three years old. From the teenee weenee 50cm and 2.65kg baby he has grown into a 98cm tall and 14.5kg handsome toddler.

Last week Miki fell asleep in the car and woke up abruptly about an hour later. With his eyes hardly open, his hair tousled and traces of airliur basi on his cheek he came to me in the front seat and told me

“Tadi Miki lawan dengan balloon…”

My baby my lil cutie chickadee told us about his dream for the first time. My baby my lil cutie chikadee’s first dream that we got to known of is about him fighting one of his biggest fears:

Fan-blown airdancers that he calls balloon!

“Ada berapa balloon yang Miki lawan?” I asked and he showed me two tiny fingers while his eyes continued to be practically closed.
“Miki lawan camana balloon tu?”
“Miki sepak-sepak dia…..” he said softly and went back to the backseat to lay down.. Must be exhausting fighting two advertising monsters in his sleep.  🙂
There are times when I feel like Miki is wiser than me. Recently, in his attempt to make us play games on our cell phones with him, he would reward us with his stinky kucing-busuk Amok; each time we complete a puzzle or destroyed the Angry Bird’s pigs. Amok would be rotated among his Daddy or me just like a championship trophy. I don’t know where he learnt such a trick. He even gave us encouraging remarks like – Well done! Try again! That’s right and the best is –

“Nanti Miki bagi Amok!” he promised!

Mummy Daddy nak buat apa lah dengan Amok busuk ko tu Miki? But his reward system was something I have never thought of and now I am using the same to encourage him to be a good boy. I made paper craft stars for him to paste on the wall of his room, one star for one good deed, starting with finishing dinner.

Wouldn’t have thought of rewarding my baby, if my baby didn’t first of all rewards me. 🙂

His cheekiness with manipulative traits has also doubled. He is so extremely good in making up excuses and examples of his recent ones are-
“Miki kan kecik lagi…Miki makan la ice-cream….”
“Miki kanak-kanak lagi… Miki mana pakai seat belt..” Tak nak pakai seat beltsebab nak lompat-lompat satu kereta macam cengkerik mabuk.

Mummy is looking forward to more parenting adventures with you Miki. Be good now my son… Be good…
