The One About The Big Fat Kitty Cat Cake and The Mascots Yang Kaki Joget

Miki’s second birthday party was held on 16th January 2010, a day before his actual 2nd birthday. We had a really nice party at KFC in Bayan Baru, Penang instead of in KL/Selangor because on the 17th my mom was hosting a big family event at her house at the kampong hanya tuhan membalas.

Last year, Miki’s first party was held in PJ at McDonalds. Next year I bet it’s gonna be at either A&W or Pizza Hut. Myself, Diyana the self-proclaimed all-rounder totally suck egg at event management. Even when it was just a little party for kids, I just couldn’t do it. Malas actually, hehehe..so all you wedding planner wannabes, go on and work on your dreams, God’s willing I will hire you for Miki’s wedding some 25 years from now. haha

It was really great this year because our family members could make it to the party. After all isn’t it all about sharing? So my three sisters and their family/boyfriend came, my aunt and her family, Azman’s parents and sister, some friends and a battalion of kids was there  as the party starts at 3pm. Those who couldn’t make it were my mom and brother, because they were preparing for the next day event.

“Next time Opah datang birthday Miki, ok?”

Miki is such a lucky, blessed little boy. Not only that he got all these wonderful people who loved him there to celebrate his birthday, he also got a lot of presents weeks before the party. One of them is cool stylish green strippedey shirt that he was wearing. It was from NEXT and shipped all the way from the beautiful Hannah and Sophie in the UK! Thanks to the girls’ mom, my blogger friend Hawa. I don’t know how to thank you, Hawa, maybe when Jon comes along I can write down tips to survive the torture of parenting a boy.ok? haha

Thanks to everyone for your wonderful gifts. I wish I could list everything down here but there are too many so THANK YOU!

Since our son really loves cats, I figured this year why not have a cake in the shape of his favourite animal. I searched high and low for the a good cake maker in Penang but most of them are not halal certified although from a pork free kitchen. And at last I remembered Nunu’s mom, Anne! Like duuh…. I have been associating her with cupcakes only when really this woman can bake just about anything!

“Candle ABC!!”

Anne was constantly apologizing about the imperfection of her creation, her very own debut in this type of cakes but I was in too good a mood to take out my measurement tape and start calculating how unproportionate the cat’s body and limbs were. After all I had instantly named it Alex after my sister, Shanana’s dearly departed orange tabby r.i.p. Alex the Cat. Dead cats’ bodies were supposed to be unproportionate, right?!  Hahaha.Nasib baik korang takde kat situ kalau tak confirm tak lalu makan kan?

Perfect or not, Miki adored his birthday cake to bits! In fact, he was treating it like a real kitty.

The Cat and the Little Boy

“Meow meow.. how ya holding up, buddy? Those candles look nasty.. meow! meow!”

When I showed Miki his special cake, Miki stopped playing with the kids, stopped his pretend eating, and stand glued to the table, facing Alex the Carrot Cake AND TALKING TO IT!

He went “Meow! Meow! Meow!” then he went quiet for a few seconds and “Meow! Meow! Meow!” again. Yeah, my son speaks cats, guys. Even if it’s a cat made of flour, butter and sugar. They had a whole witty intellectual conversation going on there. My son and his birthday cake.

I was so glad Miki loved it. Thanks a lot Anne! You made Miki’s party a very special one!

Shanana on the other hand, could not contain her emotions and bawled at the sight of it, stricken with sweet memories spent together with Arwah Alex. Al Fatihah.(dia kucing Islam)

Sudahla Shanana.. patah tumbuh hilang berganti.. Biarkanlah dia pergi…

The party was a great one because everybody was such a sport! These guys were great! KFC hosted games for the kids and the adults too! They had musical chair, won first place by my nephew Adam (Miki adored him) and Pop the Balloons which was hysterical funny! For the adults, we had musical chair as well and Nunu’s Mom used her daughter to win first place. Mana aci kan?? Sambil dukung Nunu main mestilah orang kesian.. ehehhehe

Top three in the Most Dominating Butt competition – My sister, Eyza, my B.I.L, Eone, and Anne with Nunu and the Orange Balloon.

The cake cutting part was a little less lively due to the fact that Miki was kinda afraid of KFC’s two mascots. It was funny when I asked where is Chicky and the Party Manager answered “Chicky dah tinggai kepala saja!” Haha. But she replaced it with TWO hyper and sporting ones called Chippy and Adora.

You see, all these while Miki has been singing the P1Wimax commercial soundtract “Potong! Potong! Potong!” and somehow he ended it with “Potong cakeeee!” and hand motion of a karate chop. So I thought the cake cutting part at the party would be the one that he enjoyed the most but I was wrong.

How could Miki cut the cake? Can’t you see they have formally introduced themselves and chit chat for quite a bit? My baby Miki couldnt possibly commit murder! He blew the candle, Mummy commited slaughter.

By the way, KFC also sponsored a big yummy chocolate cake for Miki because we had the KFC Kids Fun Club card. Two great birthday cakes for two years birthday! Jangan ko mintak 10 kek masa birthday ke-10 pulakk…

I have so many photos that I love! All taken  by photographer Limie (msg me if you want to get his contact) and I think I am gonna have to put them all in a slide show later ok? In the mean time here is the video of KFC’s mascots, Chippy and Adora, dancing with the kids. Boy I really wanna know who were behind that costumes! hahaha

I have so much more to write and tell as loving memories for Miki to read once he has grown up. Maybe later. Anyhow thanks again for those who came and for those who couldnt come but send presents, and warm wishes. Thank you for being a part of my son celebrating his birthday no.2.
