Make Believe For Pre-Schoolers – Rockstars On Your Special Day!

Fill the house with music — sing, dance, be silly. If your kids are going to camp or day care this summer, pick one that doesn’t rely on showing movies or watching television and that encourages a variety of activities, including unstructured playtime. – Susan Linn, Psychologist at Harvard’s Judge Baker Children’s Center

Make believe or pretend play inspires the imagination and thinking skills. Pretend play naturally involves the question, “And, what happens next?” If the right creative materials are available, the sky is the limit in answer to that question! – L. Compian, Ph.D.,Counseling Psychologist at Education.com

If that is what the experts say… Today we pretend to be ROCKSTARS!! We PARTY LIKE A ROCKSTAR !

I totally forgot about this video until yesterday! It was taken during Miki, Rafa and Farrel’s make believe performance at Rafa’s 1st birthday party in Kizsport Bangsar Village. Farrel is the son of my ex-roommate in Universiti Malaya. LOL! I realized that Anez and I have been friends since year 2000 and now our kids are friends as well. How awesome is that? Many have asked about the toy drums and where I got them… Well, we bought the drums at the regular toy store in GM. Have you not been there? They sell everything under the sun!

Anyway, it was a lot of fun! Have I written about how Rafa just start hitting the drums the moment he held the drumsticks for the first time? He is just too cute. That party was fantastic because when these kids got together with all the musical toys and the games etc… They forgot about their iPads and iPods and all the interactive screens totally and just focus on being regular active kids, not geek-wannabes.

Many a times after the party, Miki remembered how fun it was and asked if we can do the party again… Haha! It doesn’t work that way kid.. Even if your Dad kerja cop duit pun still tak boleh. Kenapa? Sebab ko belum hafal ayat Qursi lagi, sebab ko belum hafal sifir 17.5 lagi, sebab ko belum tolong Mummy scrub lantai porch sampai bersinar-sinar lagi… sebab hidup dalam dunia bukan nak fun je setiap hari! Mengerti?

Miki’s birthday is coming up next month. All these years we have been big in celebrating birthdays but Daddy won’t be around during Miki’s 6th birthday. Boo hoo…. So definitely no party and no going to places where I can’t handle the both of them, Miki and Rafa without Daddy’s assistance. I think I will bring them to Farm In The City – Petting Zoo again! It was a lot of fun for the both of them last time. And if Miki gets too naughty I can threaten to throw him in the crocodile pond. LOL…

Enjoy your year end hols guys! Let’s play pretend! 🙂
