2010 Recap

2010 is probably one of the best years in my life! It started rather monotonous and stressful in the beginning but later on, our graph of thrill skyrocketed and I was almost overwhelmed with excitement I was going weeeeeeee…… where’s the ground? I can’t see ground… I am flyinggggggggg…..

In January 2010, our son Miki turned 2 years old. We threw him a great birthday party at KFC in Bayan Baru, Penang and after the party we took him to the beach to fly his very first kite. Also in January we celebrated our 4th wedding anniversary. The anniversary present that we got ourselves was still in progress at that time – it was our new house!

It gives me great euphoria just thinking about the excitement of buying, then renovating, then decorating and of course moving into our first very own house that we bought using our own hard- earned money! Those who have bought or buying a new home must understand the feeling!

Until we moved in Chateau Diyanazman in the middle of the year, my blood pressure probably went up and down, up and down like KLCC’s elevators on a busy working day. Shopping and preparing for the house gave me such freaking pleasure while the issues and obstacles that we need to address  and overcome came as part and parcel in buying the house. We had to deal with so many outragous people like the Benggali Tua Si Kaki Mabuk ( house previous owner), Benggali Muda Yang Gemuk Lembab (Lawyer), Haji Ketayap Tapi Biadap and not forgetting my favourite; Hajah Tudung Labuh Tetapi Bodoh (neighbours). *pitam*

They put me in so much stress sometime I was almost on the verge of tears. So can you imagine, from being really happy and ecstatic, in a moment  my emotions switched to great anger, I could feel it in my hands, all four heads, Benggali and Melayu alike  grabbed by the hair and banged together again and again and again.. Haisshh syoknye laa kalau boleh buat camtu..

In March Miki watched his first Disney on Ice at Stadium Bukit Jalil. He became very smart and petah bercakap everyday.

In April we celebrated my 28th birthday by going on a trip to Sabah. My birthday dinner was awesome, we had authentic Sabahan food that was very exotic and Azman surprised me with a birthday cake, thanks for his friend and wife who was staying in Kota Kinabalu. They don’t have so many bakeries over there so 5 adults and one Miki Chikadee got to share the huge Banana Choc cake by Secret Recipe! Haha! It was very lovely and one of the birthday celebrations that I will never forget. Thank you to my hubby! A few days after we came back from Sabah, we went on a trip to Terengganu by bus and Miki became obsessed with busses ever since. Also in April, the renovation works in Chateau Diyanazman began. Yay!

May was about shopping! Shopping! Shopping! The three of us was also professionally photographed for Tropicana Medical Center’s corporate brochures, advertisements etc. We were paid in kind but handsomely! Jadi model hospital la pulak uols!

In June, Azman turned 34 years old and we had a great birthday dinner at our favourite Japanese restaurant, Kampachi in Equatorial Hotel, Bangi. Sorry Daddy! Mummy got no money to take you on exciting trips with exciting activities like what you did for my birthday. But we had fun at the dinner, food was great and Miki tried very hard to copy us eating using chop sticks haha! June was too hectic, we were in the midst of moving into the new house.

Also in June I stroked another item off the list of Things-It-Would-Be-Nice-If-I-Could-Do-Before-I-Turn-30. I was featured in FEMALE magazine (June Edition). The article about ME! ME! ME! as a lady Manchester United fan was three pages long! Coolness! I looked great in the pics and I heard one of my pics was reprinted in later issues of the magazine but I missed it. A few random people actually said hey! You are that girl from FEMALE! Wahhh… syoknyeee akak feeling-feeling artis uols!

In July, our pet rabbit Kokades delivered 3 little cute bunny babies! Then my office moved from the building with the best view in Putrajaya to a four storey building in Cyberjaya. I have been working in this company since 2006 and still no promotion what so ever. Everything that I do is bad, all that people see are my mistakes and weaknesses.

In August Miki cracked my car’s windshield with his head. Then came Ramadan Al-Mubarak, the beautiful month that we all loved and enjoyed. However in this month, about two weeks before Raya, Allah gave us another obstacle to challenge our strength – robbers broke into our house and we lost about RM10K worth of items and cash.

In September I was selected as one of 30 bloggers from Asia that would be getting all expenses paid trip to travel around Selangor in mySelangorStory;  a travel blog contest hosted by Tourism Selangor. It was a great opportunity but I had to turned it down due to the fact I have to spend 2 weeks (if im not mistaken) away from work. Still I was very honored to be selected among other bloggers.

On 30th September 2010, I was featured in Berita Harian newspaper. Alumni column, Sisipan Varsiti pullout. The article about me was written on my capacity as a Universiti Malaya graduate that is serving the public sector in Corporate Communications. It was pretty cool! Perhaps another strike in Things-It-Would-Be-Nice-If-I-Could-Do-Before-I-Turn-30 list. It  seemed like I was a super successful career woman.. Haha! Successful kerrr????

In October we held the first proper ceremony at Chateau Diyanazman. As Malays and Muslims we invited about 100++ people to our a kenduri doa selamat. It was nice and I am thankful to all who came. We did a lot of jalan-jalan in Oct and it was so much fun, although just the three of us! Love my two boys Azman and Miki!

Also in October, the house across the street from us, was sold to unknown buyer at RM580K. Like ours, it is also a corner lot but used to serve as a kindergarten, abandoned, ugly and very basic with no renovations. This gives us an indication of how much our own Chateau worth! Yippeeeeee!!

In November I permed my hair super curly and big. My mom was away performing Hajj. We celebrated AidilAdha at home without going back to kampung.

In December Miki took his first train ride. From Universiti station to KL Central in Putra LRT then from Central to Ipoh station by KTM. It was for my company’s Family Day in The Lost World of Tambun but the highlight was still the train ride. It was a nice Family Day, I was one of the committee members and I single-handedly collected RM20K for sponsorship.

Talk about sponsor, I must say throughout 2010, I have gotten so many sponsorships and advertising deals for our blogs through Advertlets and independent businesses. Awesome!

I left December as a swimsuit model. Pull stop. Boleyy gitu? Nak muntah darah kan? Muahhahaahaa! I cannot say its another strike on Things-It-Would-Be-Nice-If-I-Could-Do-Before-I-Turn-30 because the first time I appeared in TV was when I was 12.  This time I modeled for Muslimah Swimwear and it was going to be featured in Saffiya show on TV9 in Jan 2011.  In fact the show when on air on 31st Jan but I missed it the whole quarter of a milisecond that I was featured. Hahaha!

In terms of health, the year had been excellent for both Miki and I. The last time Miki made me worried about his health was in June 2009. Azman got occasional flu but he has nasal problems and allergies so that’s unavoidable. Same goes my Mom and parents in law, syukur Alhamdulillah, no major illness.

So that’s my year 2010 in a single write-up. If I were to list all of the adventures that I have been to, I might a well write on a separate blog. After all these years I have trained myself to be more positive and always counting even the littlest blessings. So despite some hiccups we are still very happy. Although we are not rich but we have roof above our heads and food on the table plus a few designer bags but what matters the most is our family. Thank God for the family that I have! Thank Allah for our good health and everything else.
